The BA requires completion of two intermediate or advanced courses in a single modern language. Students coming to campus having met the admission requirements taking effect in 1997 will typically have a 5-6 hour requirement. Students without two years of high school language study will typically take 10 hours of first year language before completing this requirement for intermediate or advanced courses.

Minor or 2nd Major, minimum = 24
Minors are 24 hours; 18 must be unduplicated. Electing a second major may add as many as 18 required hours. Should 6 hours of the minor also meet other requirements, the unrestricted electives will be greater.
Minimum total hours required coursework = 111
Unrestricted electives in 125 hour program = 14
Minimum total hours required for BA in International Studies = 125
Forty (40) of the 125 hours required for the BA must be upper division hours, which are courses numbered 300 or above taken at a 4-year college or university.
