Comprehensive Dietetics Major
Two major options are available:
- I. Dietetics Option Comprehensive - Bachelor of Science Degree

- II. Nutrition Science Option* - Bachelor of Science Degree
- *This major requires completion of a 24 hour minor and 12 hours of elective selected
by the student and approval by the department or completion of a second major of 36 hours.
I. Dietetics Option Comprehensive - Bachelor of Science Degree
ADA Approved Plan V Program.

Dietetics majors must complete a total of 125 hours in the approved Didactic program.
The Comprehensive Dietetics Major is an American Dietetics Association approved didactic
program. The didactic courses are taught on the UNK campus with lab experiences at area
health and group feeding sites. Students with a Comprehensive Dietetics major may qualify
for Affiliate Membership in the American Dietetic Association. Following completion of an
approved Dietetic internship or AP4 (Pre-professional practice program), the student is
eligible to take the Registration Exam to Become a Registered Dietitian (R.D.). Students
completing requirements for a BS degree with a Comprehensive Dietetics major are also
eligible to pursue graduate studies in Human Nutrition, Clinical Dietetics, or Food
Service Management. Application to a dietetic internship or AP4 program is to be completed
during the studentĚs fourth year. Application is the studentĚs responsibility. Advisors
will provide students with guidance during the application process, however, advisors are
not responsible for studentĚs acceptance into these programs.
