Evidence of Need

In 2004, the Airway Science and Aircraft Systems Management programs were combined into the comprehensive major in Aviation Systems Management. This program is offered by the Department of Industrial Technology and will graduate its first students in May, 2005. The program remains strong in enrollments.

Justification if the program is below CCPE thresholds

The newly revised program is expected to generate additional student interest in the future. At the present time there are 45 students majoring in the program.

Evidence of Need

In addition to the degree programs, Health Sciences offers a number of pre-professional programs. In all degree program cases students complete two or three years of study at UNK and complete their program at a health science institution or professional school. Health Sciences is a Priority Program at UNK and continues to grow. There are currently 476 students in Health Sciences programs. The Medical Technology students complete their program at UNMC and choose to receive their degree from that institution.

Evidence of Need

The Multimedia program, offered by the Department of Communication, is relatively new, graduating its first students in 2001. It includes significant coursework from the Art Department and from Computer Science and Information Systems. It has been identified as a Priority Program at UNK and is expected to grow in both numbers and quality.

Justification if the program is below CCPE thresholds

The BA and BS programs in Multimedia have identical requirements for the major. The only difference is the foreign language requirement for all BA degrees at UNK. The BS program lists specific science courses to be taken for the degree.

Evidence of Need

The Psychology Department offers a number of attractive programs and enrollments/credit hour production remains high. The department also offers a minor that is a popular option for students from a variety of majors. It also makes a significant contribution to the General Studies program. Many psychology graduates go on to graduate school, and the department has an extensive undergraduate research program. The BA degree program is identical to the BS program, with the exception of the foreign language requirement. The BAE and BSE are the same program - the student selects the option that best fits their second subject endorsement area.
