Mathematics Minor-Elementary Education

  • This program of study is only open to students who are pursuing an Elementary Education Teaching Field Endorsement Bachelor of Arts in Education degree. The optional course MATH 400 has a prerequisite of MATH 115, and STAT 345 has a prerequisite of either MATH 123 or MATH 115.
  • Minimum hours required for minor = 21

    1. Requirements (12 hours required)
      • Take all of the following:
        • MATH 103GS, Plane Trigonometry - 3 hours
        • MATH 230GS, Math for Elementary Teachers I - 3 hours
        • MATH 330GS, Math for Elementary Teachers II - 3 hours
        • MATH 430, Middle School Mathematics - 3 hours
    2. Take one course from
      • STAT 235GS, Introduction to Statistics for Social Sciences I - 3 hours
      • STAT 241GS, Elementary Statistics - 3 hours
      • STAT 345, Applied Statistics - 3 hours
    3. Take 6 hours from the following
      • MATH 115*, Calculus I with Analytic Geometry - 5 hours
      • MATH 120GS, Finite Mathematics - 3 hours
      • MATH 123GS*, Applied Calculus I - 3 hours
      • TE 348, Math, Science, and Social Studies for Children 0-8 - 3 hours
      • CSIT 100GS, Computing Environments - (maximum of 2 hours)
      • MATH 400, History of Mathematics - 3 hours
      • MATH 490, Special Topics in Mathematics - 1-3 hours
      • *Credit cannot be received for both MATH 115 and MATH 123GS.
