HUM 100 - Introduction to Humanities - 3 hours
Prereq: none
Explore the Western tradition of humanities and the arts and learn about important art works from the Classical era to the present - artists, authors, composers, sculptors, etc. Gain knowledge about the elements and critical judgments associated with the various disciplines. Develop cultural literacy and examine how important questions about life are expressed through the humanities.
HUM 300 - Great Works of the Humanities - 3 hours
Prereq: none
A "modes of inquiry" course such as this examines the role that the modes of inquiry play in society, how knowledge is expressed within that mode, and the crucial issues confronting individuals and society that pertain to that mode. In this course, students will acquire knowledge of transformational works in the humanities and arts in Western culture. They will acquire basic knowledge of methods and approaches used to analyze artistic artifacts, and will evaluate cultural artifacts as an expression of cultural values.
