The lower hour requirements for the Endorsement may be achieved with careful planning and advising in the selection of General Studies courses and Special Areas of Academic Concentration.
Minimum total hours required coursework = 134-152
Unrestricted elective in 125 hour program = 0
Minimum total hours required for BAE in Middle Grades Education - Teaching Field Endorsement = 134-152
All UNK degrees require a minimum of 125 hours. Forty (40) of the hours required for all UNK degrees must be upper division hours, which are courses numbered 300 or above taken at a 4-year college or university.

ELED 371**, Teaching Elementary School Language Arts - 3 hours
ELED 372**, Teaching Elementary School Science - 3 hours
ELED 373**, Teaching Elementary School Social Sciences - 3 hours
ELED 410, History and Philosophy of the Middle School - 3 hours
ELED 474, Teaching Reading in the Content Areas - 3 hours
MATH 230, Math for Elementary Teachers I - 3 hours
MATH 330, Math for Elementary Teachers II - 3 hours
**One corresponding secondary methods course will be selected in lieu of one of these courses.

B. Middle Grades Academic Concentration

Students must have 18 distinct (i.e., not included in another Special Area) hours in each of two Special Areas and 12 distinct semester hours in one other. Special Areas may be chosen from any of the four Broad Fields:

    Communication*
