In order to be admitted in Good Standing to UNK as an entering freshman, an applicant under 21 years of age must be a graduate of an accredited high school, and meet one of the following sets of conditions:
* A Unit is equivalent to one school year in a class, grades 9-12.
Although not a requirement, students planning to attend UNK are encouraged to take elective courses in foreign language (at least a 2 year sequence), fine arts, and/or humanities.
B. Rank in the upper one-half of their graduating high school class.
C. Present a composite ACT score of 20 or a combined score of 850 on the SAT.
High school graduates who cannot meet one of the above options may be admitted on a conditional basis.
To advance from conditional to good standing, a student must successfully complete at least one college-level course in each area of deficiency within 24 credit hours of matriculation at UNK.
A student may be admitted in Good Standing or Conditional Admission depending on individual circumstances and background. Applicants under 21 years of age who do not hold a high school diploma from an accredited high school may be admitted if they present evidence of equivalent academic training, such as a certificate of high school equivalency (i.e., the General Educational Development [GED] Test), high school transcript, and scores on the SAT or ACT test.
Adults over 21 years of age do not need to meet the above requirements for admission. Those who show evidence of ability to do college work, may be considered for special admission.
