SPORTS TRAINER (7-12)

AD 2007
Students must complete two Teaching Subject Endorsements or one Field Endorsement in addition to this Supplemental Endorsement.

Minimum required for endorsement = 39

Requirements
Take all of the following:
FCSC 110GS, Introduction to Nutrition - 3 hours
PE 160GS, Healthful Living - 3 hours
PE 173, Athletic Training Practicum - 8 hours
PE 360, Human Anatomy and Kinesiology - 4 hours
PE 362, Athletic Training I - 3 hours
PE 369, Remedial and Adaptive Physical Education - 3 hours
PE 461, Physiology of Exercise - 3 hours
PE 462, Athletic Training II - 3 hours
PSY 203GS, General Psychology - 3 hours
Take one of the following:
BIOL 215GS, Human Physiology - 4 hours (Prereq: At least one science course after high school biology or permission)
PSY 313, Physiological Psychology - 3 hours
PSY 453, Developmental Psychology - 3 hours
Take one from the following*:
CHEM 145GS, Introductory Chemistry - 4 hours
CHEM 150GS, Consumer Organic Chemistry - 3 or 4 hours
*Number of total hours for the minor may be reduced if these courses are taken in the student's General Studies Program.
Laboratory practice of 600 hours under direct supervision of a certified athletic trainer. It is recommended a student trainer take elective hours from the coaching endorsement to enhance his/her awareness of the sports scene.
