concepts of logic, business systems development, advanced business systems, terminology,
and other related concepts. Arranged lab required. To be taken concurrently with BMIS 182.

Basic principles of information processing and its business applications. Includes
concepts of logic, business systems development, advanced business systems, terminology,
and other related concepts. Arranged lab required. To be taken concurrently with BMIS 181.

- BMIS 282 - Computerized Decision-Making for Business - 3 hours
- Prereq: BMIS 181, BMIS 182 and BACC 250
Emphasis is on application packages rather than on program development. Course surveys
microcomputer applications that meet the needs of business information systems.
Maintaining uniformity of data and file organizations is stressed. Included are
descriptions of and hands-on work with up-to-date business microcomputer applications such
as decision support packages, electronic spreadsheets, file and data base management
systems, graphic packages and accounting. F, Sp.
- BMIS 381 - Systems Analysis and Design I - 3 hours
- Prereq: BMIS 181, BMIS 182; BMIS 382 or CSIS 220; BMGT 301
Course covers System Life Cycle stressing analysis of needs, feasibility, and user
requirements using Project Management and CASE tools. F.
- BMIS 382 - Computer Hardware, System Software and Architecture - 3
hours
- Prereq: none
This course presents a functional, systems-level review of computing equipment and the
organizational of components and devices into architectural configurations . The result
should be an in-depth student understanding of how computer systems are configured .
Students learn the principles of system software and build an understanding of
combinations of hardware and software within architectural designs . Students gain an
understanding of data pathing or data flows through hardware/software configurations . F.
- BMIS 399 - Business Apprenticeship Program - 1-3 hours
- Prereq: none
The Business Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide students with a variety of
experiences which will facilitate competency in their chosen field of study . Students who
plan to teach will assist faculty members in preparing bibliographies, in research, in
translations , in aiding classroom discussions, in preparing special lectures and
programs, in grading and preparing examinations . Must by approved by Department Chair .
This course may be repeated to a maximum of 6 credits . F, Sp.
- BMIS 481 - Systems Analysis and Design II - 3 hours
- Prereq: BMIS 381
Continuation of BMIS 381, covering the analysis, design, construction , implementation and
monitoring of business information systems . Sp.
- BMIS 498 - Management Information Systems Topics - 3 hours
- Prereq: none
Selected topics and problems of current interest considered in depth. Class discussion and
course projects. Topics vary each semester depending upon instructor. On demand.
- BMIS 499 - Special Problems in Business - 1-3 hours
- Prereq: Permission of instructor
Independent investigations of business problems. Topics to be investigated may be tailored
to meet the needs of the student. A case study course designed (1) to integrate the
knowledge acquired in other courses in business administration, and (2) to emphasize
analysis and decision-making. Must be approved by Department Chair. F, Sp.
