BASM 200 - Private Pilot Ground - 3 hours

Prereq: none
Course serves as a preparation for the FAA Private Pilot written exam to be taken upon successful completion of the course . Course includes necessary FAA regulations, weather, air and radio navigation , flight safety, and emergency procedures . F.
 

BASM 291 - Private Pilot Flight - 1 hour

Prereq: previous successful completion of the FAA Private Pilot written examination or concurrent enrollment in BASM 200
Course consists of all the dual and solo flight hours required for private pilot certification. All flight instruction emphasizes preflight preparations, airplane operating procedures, proper airplane flight control, air and ground safety, traffic control procedures and communication. Course includes adequate solo flight practices and solo cross country flights. Completion of private pilot certification is necessary to receive credit for this course. F, Sp.
 

BASM 300 - Instrument Ground - 3 hours

Prereq: none
Course serves as preparation for the FAA written exam. Content includes VOR, DME procedures, IFR low altitude, Instrument Pilot enroute maps, and IFR regulations. F, Sp.
 

BASM 303 - Instrument Flight - 2 hours

Prereq: none
Practice instrument attitude flying including VOR, DME, localizer, ILS, and ADF approaches. F, Sp.
 

BASM 304 - Commercial Ground - 3 hours

Prereq: none
Course serves as preparation for the FAA commercial written exam. Includes sophisticated weight and balance problems, navigation problems, and takeoff and landing distance charts. F.
 

BASM 305 - Commercial Flight - 2 hours

Prereq: none
Practice on commercial maneuvers including chandelles, lazy eights, steep 720s, and precision landings. F, Sp.
 

BASM 356 - Advanced Aircraft Systems - 3 hours

Prereq: none
This course will acquaint the student with various aircraft types and sophisticated aircraft systems, as well as pilot requirements and responsibilities within these systems. Spring-even numbered years.
 

BASM 357 - Advanced Aerodynamics/Aircraft Performance - 3 hours

Prereq: BASM 304
This course is designed to develop a sound understanding of the concepts of aerodynamics relevant to flight, and the impact of the natural environment upon the performance of modern aircraft. Spring-odd numbered years.
 

BASM 361 - Aviation Airport Management - 3 hours

Prereq: none
Primary emphasis on planning the complete development of an airport including the economic, social, political, and operation requirements. Fall-odd numbered years.
 

BASM 362 - Aviation Safety - 3 hours

Prereq: none
The primary goal of this course is to thoroughly indoctrinate the student pilot with safety consciousness including awareness of physical limitations, effects of flight on human body, severe weather, and in-flight emergencies. Fall-odd numbered years.
 

BASM 363 - Aviation Law - 3 hours

Prereq: none
Covers the interpretation and application of the statutes, related acts, and federal regulations, and common law aviation issues. Fall-even numbered years.
 

BASM 364 - Air Traffic Control - 3 hours

Prereq: BASM 200 This course is designed to give the student an in-depth understanding of the air traffic control occupation with insights into its functions, equipment, and responsibilities. Spring-even numbered years.
 

BASM 365 - Certified Flight Instructor - 2 hours

Prereq: none
This course involves the practice and simulation of content related topics necessary for the effective flight instructor-student learning process. F, SP.
 

BASM 366 - Fundamentals of Instruction - 1 hour

Prereq: none
This course introduces the teaching methodology in flight instruction which is necessary for the effective instructor-student learning process. F, Sp.
 

BASM 367 - Certified Flight Instructor Instrument - 2 hours

Prereq: none
This course involves the practice and simulation of instrument related topics that are necessary for the instrument rating. F, Sp.
 

BASM 368 - Multi-Engine Rating - 2 hours

Prereq: none
This course prepares the student for the multi-engine rating. Content includes fuel system management, engine out procedures, icing, attitude instrument flying, and simulated power losses during landings and takeoffs. F, Sp.
 

BASM 369 - Multi-Engine Instructor - 2 hours

Prereq: none
This course will develop the knowledge, skill and aeronautical experience necessary to meet the requirements for the multi-engine flight instructor certificate. F, Sp.
 

BASM 399 - Business Apprenticeship Program - 1-3 hours

Prereq: none
This Business Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide students with a variety of experiences which will facilitate competency in their chosen field of study. Students who plan to teach will assist faculty members in preparing bibliographies, in research, in translations, in aiding classroom discussions, in preparing special lectures and programs, in grading and preparing examinations. Must be approved by Department Chair. F, Sp.
 

BASM 499 - Special Problems in Business - 3 hours

Prereq: Permission of instructor
Independent investigations of business problems. Topics to be investigated may be tailored to meet the needs of the student. A case study course designed (1) to integrate the knowledge acquired in other courses in business administration, and (2) to emphasize analysis and decision-making. Must be approved by Department Chair. F, Sp.
