BA Language requirement = a minimum of 5

The BA requires completion of two intermediate or advanced courses in a single modern language. Students coming to campus having met the 1997- admission requirements will typically have a 5-6 hour requirement. Students without two years of high school language study will typically take 10 hours of first year language before completing this requirement.

Major = 30

Minor or 2nd Major = 24

Minors are 24 hours; 18 must be unduplicated. Electing a second major may add as many as 18 required hours. Should 6 hours of the minor also meet other requirements, the unrestricted electives will be greater.

Minimum total hours required coursework = 104

Unrestricted elective in 125 hour program = 21

Minimum total hours required for BA in Sociology Major = 125

All UNK degrees require a minimum of 125 hours. Forty (40) of the hours required for all UNK degrees must be upper division hours, which are courses numbered 300 or above taken at a 4-year college or university.

SOC 200GS, Introduction to Sociology - 3 hours

SOC 337, Sociological Inquiry - 3 hours

SOC 400, Sociological Theory - 3 hours (Prereq: Two 300 or 400 level sociology courses)

STAT 235, Statistical Techniques for Research I - 3 hours

Take 1 course from:

SOC 250GS, Anthropology - 3 hours

SOC 275, Social Psychology - 3 hours

B. Sociology Electives

Take 5 courses from:

SOC 300-491

(except SOC 490 and no more than 3 hours from SOC 475)
