Nebraska-Plains Alliance of Colleges (N-PAC)

The University of Nebraska at Kearney and the institutions in the Mid-Plains Community College Area and the Central Community College Area recognize that many residents of these service regions are unable, for a variety of reasons, to continue their education in a residential setting of a four-year institution. To accommodate these various learning experiences, McCook Community College, Mid-Plains Area Community College of North Platte, Central Community College of Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings and UNK have developed an educational alliance which will provide educational opportunities of professional and personal interest.

The N-PAC Mission is to:

1. Extend educational opportunity to the entire service region included in the Alliance, and provide educational services to new populations;

2. Expand, with continuity in program design, the educational and community services provided by the area institutions;

3. Create more effective and efficient utilization of instructional personnel, physical facilities, and fiscal resources through cooperative programming;

4. Enhance educational experiences and community services through cooperative program planning, implementation, and assessment;

5. Provide a forum through which the participating institutions can identify, discuss and share creative, innovative ideas.

A Coordinating Council of fifteen representatives, five each from the Mid-Plains Area, the Central Area and from UNK, provides direction, facilitates implementation of programs, and systematically assesses activities for the N-PAC Alliance. The Coordinating Council and the respective departments of each institution seek to enhance the breadth and quality of educational service to out-state Nebraska residents, businesses, industries, and social agencies, and provide access to the resources of the participating institutions.
