Proportionate refunds will be made for any student withdrawing from school; the student must complete a withdrawal form from the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Office. Students reducing class loads must complete the change of course form obtained from the Registrar.
The Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act in 1992 has required institutions to calculate refunds differently for some students. If a student withdraws from the University of Nebraska at Kearney on or before 60% of the enrollment period in which he/she is enrolled AND the student is attending UNK for the first time AND the student is receiving Federal financial aid a pro rata refund calculation must be done.
When using a pro rata refund calculation UNK can retain the amount of institutional charges proportional to the portion of the enrollment period completed by the student.
Students who withdraw from an Off-Campus class must complete the Class Withdrawal Form available from the Off-Campus instructor. This Form must be mailed to the Registrar's Office. Any applicable refund based on the refund schedule above, is determined as of the postmark date on which the form was mailed.
Note: The refund schedules for both on and off-campus classes do not apply to students who are attending UNK for the first time and are receiving Title IV Financial Aid. Fees are not refundable--only tuition.
