STUDENT GOVERNMENT

All students are members of the Associated Students of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, the student governing body. Student Government provides students with the means to participate in student-sponsored activities, to legislate in areas of student concern, and to represent student opinion.

Inter-Fraternity Council: The Inter-Fraternity Council is composed of elected representatives from each active fraternity chapter at UNK, and acts as the governing body for UNK fraternities.

Panhellenic Council: acts as the governing body for the national sororities active at UNK, composed of three selected delegates from each UNK sorority.

Resident Assistant Council: acts as a link between Resident Assistants both on the UNK campus and on other campuses

Residence Hall Association: governing body of the UNK residence halls and a representative voice for the students.

Residence Hall Governments and Councils: Each residence hall has an individual hall council or government, which provides leadership for the hall to plan educational and social activities, encourage high academic and leadership standards, and promote unity among residents.

Student Court: the judicial branch of the Student Government. The Court serves as a student appeals board; hearing campus parking violations, constitutionality concerns within Student Government, and University policy violations occurring outside of the residence halls.

Student Senate: the legislative body of the Student Government. Senate acts as a liaison between students, faculty, and administration. Senate members are elected by the student body and serve annual terms.
