TE 100 - Teaching in a Democratic Society - 3 hours: Prereq: none
The first course for all teacher education majors. The key course themes are democracy and diversity. Current educational issues will be explored. The course includes a field experience in K-12 school sites. Typically, the course is taken concurrently with English 101 or English 102 and includes a community service learning component. Technology is incorporated into the experience.

TE 204 - Typical/Atypical Growth and Development - 3 hours: Prereq: TE 100, ENG 101
This course is one of the two required for Level II education majors. Students will become aware of human growth/development and exceptionalities. As students explore these areas, they will also be made aware of the necessity to adapt to the changes brought to the classroom via diversity. Students will be involved in K-12 field experiences that will provide them opportunities to observe student development, exceptionalities, and diversity.

TE 206 - Instructional Technology and the Preservice Teacher - 3 hours: Prereq: TE 100, ENG 101
This course will introduce preservice teachers to a variety of technologies and strategies for their use in the instructional process to accommodate diverse students. Perservice teachers will comprehend and model ethical and democratic principles of instructional technology integration in their classrooms. This course will be concurrently taught with PSCI 110GS, American Government. Five field visits will be integrated into the curriculum, including one weekend visit.
