ASSESSMENT PLAN
All students in teacher education, including Communication Disorders and Special Education
majors take the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) or the Content Mastery Examination for
Educators (CMEE) as part of the application process for admittance into Teacher Education.
Graduate candidates in
Communications Disorders take the national ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association) examination. This test includes a section on research as well as
comprehensive coverage of all areas of the discipline. |

CMEE. |
1995-96 ASSESSMENT

1994-95 ASSESSMENT
All students are required to pass the Pre- Professional Skills Test (PPST) before being
admitted to Teacher Education. No feedback is available about performance data on students
in our department. However, since the system of "blocking classes" was
initiated, it is felt that students are better prepared to take advanced coursework. Under
the present system, students are not given permission to enroll in methods courses until
they have passed the PPST. Communication
Disorders: Since the last reporting period, six graduates in Communication Disorders have
reported they received passing scores on the national examination in speech-language
pathology. The department continues to collect information from the students immediately
after they have taken the examination. This information is used to verify that all
appropriate content areas are covered in the curriculum. |
