ASSESSMENT PLAN
End-of-semester applied music juries for all students. |
1999-2000 ASSESSMENT
|
1998-99
ASSESSMENT
The recital/jury assessment demonstrated growing consistency in the quality of students'
performances. |
1997-98
ASSESSMENT
Student work confirms that students have adequate preparation for their level, with
individual variation based on both student and instructor. No changes in the private
lesson format is indicated by this assessment. |
1996-97
ASSESSMENT
After reviewing student work and comments, the Department has decided to delete scales and
other rudimentary elements from the juries for instrumental students since this assessment
is part of the lesson structure, and mastery is implicit in the performance of jury
literature. Time constrains were also a part of this decision. |
1995-96
ASSESSMENT
Since the quality of performance in the recitals continues to improve year each year, the
Department is choosing more challenging and interesting literature for the juries. |
1994-95
ASSESSMENT
The department recitals show more quality than the previous year. There is some indication
that students would profit from more preparation at lower levels. Because of this,
placement examinations are being used for advising. |
1993-94
ASSESSMENT
Trends influencing both performers and observers include improvement in both areas over
the past three to five years. It is felt by the music faculty that greater interest in
recitals is a result of better and more interesting performances, indicative of the recent
improvement in the level of talent displayed by students majoring in music. |
