Mission
- Provide a broad academic and multidisciplinary
background for majors
- Prepare students of high character and ethical
standards for leadership positions with in employment areas of law enforcement,
institutional corrections, probation, parole, private security and the courts.
- Assist students in gaining employment within the
para-legal and criminal law career fields
- Cultivate in students a realistic awareness of
present and historical trends of crime and criminal methodology
- Stimulate an awareness of deviant and abnormal
human behavior of concern to criminal justice practitioners
- Acquaint students with current literature and
research pertaining to the administration of justice.
- Contributes to the understanding of crime, criminal
offenders, and how the justice system administrates criminality
- Promotes complete understanding of the subsystems
of law enforcement, courts, and corrections
- Promotes complete understanding of the development
of more highly educated, humane and effective justice personnel.
- Introducing students to justice issues, civil
values, and understanding the relationship of specific parts of the United States
Constitution to individual freedom.
- Stimulate student curiosity and encourage critical
thinking concerning domestic and international justice issues.
- Foster an understanding of the diverse cultures and
individuals that justice practitioners are likely to encounter in he course of their
duties.
- Acquaint students with effective methods of
organizing, analyzing, and comprehending justice concepts through continuous classroom
oriented writing experiences.
