ASSESSMENT PLAN
The assessment plan will be reevaluated during the first semester of each academic year. Modifications will be suggested by the Chair and appropriate adjustments will be made.
1997-98 ASSESSMENT
At this point, changes to the assessment plan appear to be unwarranted.
1996-97 ASSESSMENT
Changes to the assessment plan appear to be unwarranted.
1995-96 ASSESSMENT
Changes to the assessment plan appear to be unwarranted. After a few early changes, the current plan has proven helpful to the Department in the areas of curriculum review, external communications and evaluation of objectives.
1994-95 ASSESSMENT
At this time it appears that the only changes to the assessment plan will be to drop the KSCV-FM and KSTV phone-call tracking system and the Senior Thesis will become a major research paper. The rest of the plan will remain intact as it appears that those methods are supplying valuable information. The Department has made significant progress concerning external evaluation of work by broadcast students. The alumni survey yielded insightful data. It allowed the department to update mailing addresses and gather useful information on the state of alumni employment. The portfolios are indicative of typical student achievement and will demonstrate to potential employers the value of the education Journalism and Mass Communication students receive at UNK.
1993-94 ASSESSMENT
At this time, it appears that the only changes in the assessment plan will be the institution of a system for documenting viewer/listener comments for KSTV and KSCV-FM and a Senior Thesis which is now a requirement for all students enrolled in JMC 460. In other areas of the plan, it is too soon to measure achievement, change is not necessary, or additional work must be completed before moving ahead.
