ASSESSMENT PLAN
The major assessment tool of the Department of Industrial Technology is a survey of alumni
indicating the level of employment of our graduates by percent employed in the field, and
salary range. Alumni also reflect on the relative strengths and weakness of their
preparation. |
1999-2000 ASSESSMENT
Instead of sending out a survey each summer to past students and getting poor returns it
was decided to skip the 1999-00 summer and rely more on exit interviews of graduates. In
the future we will go back to surveying graduates that have been out for three years. |
1998-99 ASSESSMENT
A survey of past graduates was sent out to the graduates during the summer. The return
rate was very poor and thus there will need to be more information gathered. Some of the
results were used in the revision of the Construction curriculum. Alumni questioned the
value of BFIN 316 as a requirement; the program now allows a free elective for those 3
hours. We will need to use a different survey or method to gather this information. |
1997-98 ASSESSMENT
A survey of past graduates was conducted in the summer of 1998. The faculty is reviewing
the information to determine if any materials, courses or curriculum changes need to be
addressed. This is a continual process and the faculty is evaluating the results with
hopes of completing this task by the summer of 1999. |
1996-97
ASSESSMENT
In the Summer of 1997 the Department did not complete the 3 year graduate follow-up. The
Department will revisit the survey in the Summer of 1998. The survey results from 1996, in addition to other factors, is
leading to a major revision of all three options. The Department hopes to have these
changes approved in 1997-98. |
1995-96
ASSESSMENT
In the summer of 1996 the Industrial Technology Department sent a graduate follow-up
survey to students that graduated in the last three years. The results of the survey were
given to the faculty and the curriculum is being evaluated to correct any weaknesses in
the degree options.
The Department is also planning to send birthdays cards to past graduates with an enclosed
questionnaire to get more feed back from the alumni. |
1994-95
ASSESSMENT
A survey of students that have graduated 1-3 years ago and 5 years ago will be done in the
summer of 1996. |
1993-94
ASSESSMENT
Survey sent to students who have graduated in the last three years. Follow-up letters sent
to encourage return of the survey. After reviewing the survey, we changed the curriculum
format in the communication classes that we offer. |
