ASSESSMENT PLAN
The Health Science Programs Office will send surveys/questionnaires to the professional schools and clinical programs to which our students have been accepted. We will inquire about the preparedness of our students in their professional school/clinical program and we will inquire about the overall success of our students once they are enrolled in the program. The schools will be asked to also list the strengths and weaknesses of our students.
2000-2001 ASSESSMENT
The schools will participate in surverys only periodically. This assessment will be done about every 5 years.
1999-2000 ASSESSMENT
The Health Programs Office conducted a survey of professional schools and clinical programs to which our students are most frequently accepted during the spring of 1997. The information learned from the survey has been used to help advise students in ways that have continued to meet the needs of the professional schools and clinical programs. This information, demonstrating the success of former UNK students, has also been used in the recruitment and retention of new students. The department will continue to use the information in these ways and plans to periodically conduct this survey in the future.
1998-99 ASSESSMENT
The survey of professional schools and clinical programs will not be administered  every year in order to insure better response.
1997-98 ASSESSMENT
The Health Programs Office conducted a survey of professional schools and clinical programs to which our students are most frequently accepted during the spring of 1997. Fifteen out of twenty-one programs responded. On the survey, schools were asked to rate UNK students in five different areas on a scale from 1 to 5 (1 being poor, 5 being excellent). Following are the average ratings for each of the five areas:
Overall educational preparation of UNK students upon entering the program: 4.17
Educational preparation of UNK students in science and math: 4.08
Overall success of UNK students once they begin the program: 4.23
Acceptance rate of UNK students into the program: 4.05
Graduation rate of UNK students from the program: 4.40

The information from the survey will be used to help advise students in ways that continue to meet the needs of the professional schools and clinical programs. This information, demonstrating the success of former UNK students, will also be used in the recruitment and retention of new students.

The department will continue to periodically conduct this survey in the future.

1996-97 ASSESSMENT
The Health Programs Office conducted a survey of the professional schools and clinical programs to which our students are most frequently accepted. Nearly seventy percent of the surveys were returned. The results were overwhelmingly positive. Most schools and programs commented that UNK students are hard-working, very prepared, and have a well-rounded background. The results also showed that UNK students are typically successful in professional schools and clinical programs once they are accepted and graduation rates are high. No specific weaknesses were consistently listed by the schools or programs. The department plans to periodically conduct this survey in the future.
