ASSESSMENT PLAN
The honors program uses a capstone class composed of an independent study within the major
department at the senior level that provides a means of bringing all the experiences of
the four years of education into focus. It is a culmination of not only the honors work,
but also the work in the major. |
1999-2000 ASSESSMENT
Incomplete senior projects point to the need to find a better regulated way to manage the
capstone course by both the departmental directors and the Honors Program. The director
will visit each department to better communicate and coordinate expectations.Generally, students report that they are pleased
with their learning in the capstone course. |
1998-99 ASSESSMENT
All students successfully completed their capstone courses. The Program continues to
encourage undergraduate research by producing the Undergraduate Research Journal. Nine
Honors students published their capstone research in this year's edition. |
1997-98 ASSESSMENT
All students successfully completed their capstone courses. The program has begun
producing the Undergraduate Research Journal, a annual juried publication, as a
vehicle for students to publish their research projects. The initial edition featured
fifteen articles by students, many the result of research for the Honors capstone course. |
1996-97
ASSESSMENT
All students successfully completed their capstone courses. The Program has assigned
Faculty Tutors to guide the students through their capstone. This has been successful;
several students have co-authored publications as a result of this. |
1995-96
ASSESSMENT
Installation of computer facilities, including internet access, has contributed to
research for Senior Seminars. |
1994-95
ASSESSMENT
Students in Senior Studies continue to do well. No changes have been indicated from the
capstone courses this year. |
1993-94
ASSESSMENT
We discovered that even the Honors students need to improve their research skills. This
has helped us to reformulate the Senior Studies to focus on these as well as upon the
writing skills of the students. |
