ASSESSMENT PLAN
The Department tracks its graduates through a questionnaire included annually in the bi-annual department newsletter and by personal contacts.
1999-2000 ASSESSMENT
The new exit survey was used for the first time this year. We received four responses, from recent and not-so-recent graduates, expressing both strengths and weaknesses in our program. The Graduate Committee will be using these in determining the directions the graduate program should follow in coming years. In addition, in response to the surveys and the 1998-1999 program review, the Graduate Committee changed the graduate curriculum, including an increased use of P-designated courses. This should allow for more variety in graduate course offerings, an area of concern addressed in some of the surveys.
1998-99 ASSESSMENT
The Graduate Program Director designed a new exit survey for graduating M. A. students that was subsequently approved by the Graduate Committee. This will provide a concrete assessment tool for our graduate program.
1997-98 ASSESSMENT
Assessment and tracking of M.A. degree holders has not yet been carried out separately from the alumni survey of undergraduates.
