Mission
Students should have the following abilities and
competencies:
- Knowledge of the U.S. and of comparative economic
systems.
- Proficiency in the use of economic principles
emphasizing analysis, interpretation, drawing inferences, and recognizing relationships to
society including global communities.
- Proficiency in the use of economic principles,
theories, techniques, and tools of analysis requisite for career or for graduate work in
the field.
- Insight into the relationships between economics
and the diverse academic disciplines.
- Proficiency in the use of research techniques and
problem solving.
- Basic knowledge of economics, comparative economic
systems, and the "economic way of thinking" for students who are not
concentrating in the field of economics.
Students Outcomes in Research/Scholarship
- Instill within students an appreciation for
scholarly activities.
- Develop student competency in economic research
techniques.
- Develop student proficiency in gathering and
interpreting economic data for problem solving.
