ASSESSMENT PLAN
Techniques of Counseling (CSP 855) is required in all programs. A grade of "B" or better indicating a demonstration of effective counseling skills must be earned prior to registering for the Practicum (CSP 885). Practicum in Counseling (CSP 885) is required in all programs. A grade of "B" or better indicating a consistent demonstration of effective counseling with clients must be earned prior to registering for the internship (CSP 892 or 992).
1999-2000 ASSESSMENT
Thirty-seven students successfully completed CSP 855 and there are eighteen currently enrolled (Summer 2000). One student was suspended from the program and referred to an "outside" resource. One student continues to efforts to reach an acceptable level of skill development.

As a result of this assessment process it became apparent one professor was not adequately instructing this class. Efforts have been completed in response to this concern (example – two students were allowed to retake the class at no charge.) This continues to be a very effective part of the assessment process.

1998-99 ASSESSMENT
Forty-nine students successfully completed C&SP 855. Five students were required to continue efforts to reach an acceptable level of skill development. One of these students choose to withdraw from the program, two have completed the requirement and two continue.
1997-98 ASSESSMENT
Fifty-one students successfully completed C&SP 855. Five students were required to continue efforts to reach an acceptable level of skill development.

Fifty-four students successfully completed C&SP 885. Eight were required to continue efforts to reach an acceptable level of level of skill development. Seven have since completed the course.  The Department has discovered that some students do better initially with group rather than individual counseling, thus they are able to continue but will still need to demonstrate skills in individual counseling.

1996-97 ASSESSMENT
There were approximately 50 students in each of the capstone courses (C&SP 855, Techniques of Counseling, and C&SP 885, Practicum in Counseling) during the 1996-97 academic year. There were no programmatic concerns raised as a result of the feedback received.
1995-96 ASSESSMENT
Fifty-four students successfully completed C&SP 855, Techniques of Counseling. Sixty-one successfully completed C&SP 885, Practicum in Counseling. Assessment of the data related to these capstone courses (student evaluations, student grades, etc.) indicate that these experiences are meeting the requirements of the program and the academic needs of our students.
1994-95 ASSESSMENT
There were a total of 115 students in the capstone courses (C&SP 855, Techniques of Counseling and C&SP 885, Practicum in Counseling) during the 1994-95 year. There were no programmatic concerns raised as a result of the feedback related to these course experiences.
1993-94 ASSESSMENT
There were approximately 50 students in each of the capstone course (C&SP 855, Techniques of Counseling, C&SP 885, Practicum in Counseling) during the 1993-94 year. There were no programmatic concerns raised as a result of the feedback related to these courses experiences and the more than 100 students involved.
