ASSESSMENT PLAN
Faculty review of the assessment plan is ongoing on a yearly basis. |
1999-2000 ASSESSMENT
A departmental committee has been formed to review the assessment process. Dr. David Hof
chairs the committee. The primary efforts of this committee will begin fall 2000. |
1998-99 ASSESSMENT
No action taken. |
1997-98 ASSESSMENT
The School Psychology program has adopted a portfolio final assessment. We are also
implementing an Employer Survey to better assess the effectiveness of Department
graduates. |
1996-97
ASSESSMENT
Review of the assessment plan has been postponed during the time that the CACREP study is
being done. Information from this study will be used as part of the consideration of the
current Assessment Plan. Although
not part of the Assessment Plan, students were involved with the successful completion of
the Department's Academic Program Review. Informal feedback indicated that this was a
positive experience for the students and increased their appreciation of the preparation
that they are receiving in the Department. |
1995-96
ASSESSMENT
Several changes in the assessment plan are being considered. We are discussing
administering an employer survey that would parallel the intern supervisors survey. The
portfolio is still under consideration as an assessment tool. Although not directly an
assessment tool, the Department is also reviewing and revising its admissions process, to
insure that assessment tools do not have to become barriers. The rest of the assessment
plan will remain as it is. A
retention/attrition study is still being considered as well as revising our assessment
instruments to use comparable scales. We are also looking at ways to enhance the numbers
of students participating in the graduate follow-up study. |
1994-95
ASSESSMENT
We will continue to use the present assessment plan. We are still looking at portfolio
assessment. The outcome of our seeking accreditation will impact this somewhat. If CACREP
requires portfolios, we will move forward with this. Accreditation will also allow us to
better track licensing of our graduates so this may become a part of our assessment plan. Also under consideration is a retention/attrition
study. We are also revising our assessment instruments using comparable scales. Another
concern is finding ways to improve the numbers responding to the graduate follow-up study.

1993-94 ASSESSMENT
We liked the assessment process a lot. Because it's the first time we've worked this hard
on the process, we found it very helpful. We want to repeat and see what begins to show.
Recommendations from the Counselor Education Committee to the Department of Counseling and
School Psychology coming from our review of the Counseling and School Psychology student
assessment, August 1993-94: 1. All of the Likert type scales should use the same number of
categories on the surveys. 2. We need to consider ways to enhance the numbers of students
participating in the Graduate Follow-up Study. |
