ASSESSMENT PLAN

1. Six FAA examinations including both ground and flight, administered and evaluated by FAA designated examiners, given at freshmen through junior levels to all majors.

2. FAA written and oral examination, administered and evaluated by FAA examiner, given to all choosing to obtain certified flight instructor licenses.

1999-2000 ASSESSMENT
1998-99 ASSESSMENT
1997-98 ASSESSMENT
FAA exams are administered in several of the BASM classes. Out of 32 students who took the FAA exams this year, one failed. Those who passed averaged 83% in the Private Pilot Ground course (BASM 200) and 85% in the Instrument Ground (BASM 300) and 89.8% in Commercial License (BASM 304).
1996-97 ASSESSMENT
FAA exams are administered in several of the BASM classes. Out of 29 students who took the FAA exams this year, two failed. Our students scored 85.7% in Private Pilot Ground (BASM 200), 83% in Instrument Ground (BASM 300) and 98.6% in Commercial License (BASM 304).
1995-96 ASSESSMENT
FAA exams are administered in several of the BASM classes. Our students scored 85.65% in Private Pilot Ground (BASM 200) and 85.8% in Instrument Ground (BASM 300). The national average for these tests is in the lower 80th percentile.
1994-95 ASSESSMENT
FAA exams are administered in several of the BASM classes. Our students scored 80% in Private Pilot Ground (BASM 200) and 82.4% in Instrument Ground (BASM 300).
1993-94 ASSESSMENT
The standardized tests demonstrated no significant changes during the period covered by the assessment report. In the Private Pilot Ground course (BASM 200) the test scores averaged 86.04% over the period with a high of 89.7% during the Spring, 1994 class and a low of 84.5% for the Fall, 1993 class.

The average score in the Instrument Ground course classes (BASM 300) was 81.37% during the period. The high score was 90.4% for the Fall, 1994, class and the low score was 75.9% for the Spring, 1994, class.

As of Spring, 1995, for the 300 course and Fall, 1995 for the 200 course, all testing will be accomplished by the Federal Aviation Administration by computer testing. While this procedure has its disadvantages (arranging location and schedules), we will gain the ability to analyze specific areas where the students are demonstrating deficiencies. This will allow us to learn from the test results which areas require more significant focus in future classes.
