ASSESSMENT PLAN

Students doing a creative/studio thesis display their work at a public show and have an oral exam over the thesis.
Students doing a written thesis have an oral exam over the thesis.

1997-98 ASSESSMENT
Two Graduate students, one in Ceramics and one in Painting, successfully exhibited their work in the Walker Art Gallery and defended their theses through an oral exam before their Committees. The quality of the students' theses was commendable as evidenced by each Committee's unanimous approval.

An informal verbal survey was conducted by each Committee to ascertain the students' response to the Department's Graduate Program. All student responses were positive, especially the opportunity to create a body of work.

In response to earlier verbal surveys, as well as other input from students, faculty and the institution, individual studios have been made available to graduate students.

1996-97 ASSESSMENT
Four graduate students successfully exhibited their work in the Walker Art Gallery and defended their thesis through an oral exam before their Committee. The following media/studio areas were represented by the graduates.

The quality of the student's these was commendable as evidenced by each Committee's unanimous approval.

An informal verbal survey was conducted by each Committee to ascertain the student's response to the Department's Graduate Program. All students had a positive response to the program; and especially expressed strong maturation during the experience.
